MEDIA LITERACY AND NEW PEDAGOGIES

Media literacy is recognised as one of the most critical social participation skills of the 21st century. Despite this, education and public funding to enhance media literacy have not kept pace with the ubiquity of media, news, and online interactions. Media literacy is essential for competently deciphering complex media messages, safely navigating the digital space, and confidently partaking in today's world as responsible digital citizens. Our research problematises agency and power in media communication, probes media and digital literacy skills, and explores new ways of learning and teaching media competency in the age of information overload.
